Dear Reader,
If you follow me on Instagram you have seen my pictures of the fantastic high tea at Emirates Palace we enjoyed a few weeks ago with some friends of mine. This is one of the most luxurious experiences that have become very popular especially with tourists or people who moved to Abu Dhabi recently. High tea is a very English tradition and not part of Arab culture, therefore experiencing it in this context is very interesting. If you are interested in this experience at the Emirates Palace, keep reading.
The location
Emirates Palace was built in 2001. While it reminds me of more a European building style, it is actually traditionally Arabic style incorporating many of those elements. One of the main highlights of the building is the beautiful garden. It stretches out both in front and behind the building with lush grass and palm trees. The sight is absolutely breathtaking. Emirates Palace is located right on the corner of Abu Dhabi. It made for a beautiful view of the ocean past the garden.
It is not just the outside of the Palace that was impressive. The interior of the Palace was just as spectacular. Their walls and ceiling were covered in plate gold and sparkled from small plates. Walking through it, you will be sure to be impressed. When coming here, make sure to arrive about thirty minutes early to take all the pictures you want during the daylight. There are so many amazing shots, so come prepared.
The Menu
The Emirates Palace is known for its High Tea. This is an adaptation of English 5 o’clock tea. While this is the most known, they also have a vast menu of other things. They have one of the most diverse tea and coffee selections I’ve ever seen. If that is something you enjoy, this is definitely the place to check out. Emirates Palace also offers the luxury of gold coffee. Apart from the drinks, they also offer food. Their selection ranges from tea sandwiches to burgers, as well as desserts that include scones and chocolate pastries. They will have everything you could want from such a luxurious place. While the prices are high, they do not seem exaggerated, such as 50 AED for a cup of tea.
High Tea
Now, this is the real gem of this experience. This set is set up to serve two people and includes two types of teas (picked by you) and an assortment of sandwiches, scones, pastries, and deserts. While it looks like not too much, you will be full and not require dinner. I will include some pictures for you to see what will be served for you. The price for High Tea is 400 AED for two people, but personally, I feel like you receive good value for money.
You will be able to spend as much time there as you would want. We ended up sitting there for about four hours enjoying the atmosphere and the experience. With talking, drinking tea, and enjoying the food, you will need the time to truly appreciate it. You can spend so much time looking at the decoration and the furniture, and just relish what is happening at that moment.
My writing will not be able to convey how amazing the experience really was. We spent time eating snacks, drinking tea and talking. While it is expensive this is worth the splurge for me. If you need further information or want to book, you can do it on their website.
If you decide to go to High Tea at Emirates Palace, please share your experience with me in the comments below or on social media. I would love to know what you thought of it and if it was worth the price for you.
Kisses,
Juli
